EMDR Therapy

Being held hostage by your past is keeping you from the future you want.

Have you experienced a situation where you thought your life or safety, or the life or safety of a loved one, was in danger?

You experience horrible nightmares or flashbacks where you feel like you’re right back in the terrifying situation.

Panic attacks appear to come out of nowhere. You have an aversion to anything associated, even remotely, with the situation.

A range of negative feelings that arise out of nowhere…

…or in association with something related to the bad experience – aromas, restaurants, crowds, or intimacy.

All these limitations cause people to feel trapped, very sad, or different from everyone else on the planet.

It’s a very lonely and frustrating place to be.

You can recover from a troubling past experience.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapy is a method I use to help clients who feel intense anxiety and are faced with an activity (or anything related to that activity) that they want to avoid.

The result of the process is that my client no longer feels anxiety.

Feel courageous, free, and spontaneous.

At the beginning of EMDR therapy, my clients start by learning some skills to help manage fear.

These tools make your body and mind calmer so that the experience becomes less scary. You become more confident when you know you can bring your heart rate down.

Next, we’ll identify the situations from the past that created the troubling memories.

Together we make a list of what we’ll work on.

The work is done with a couple of small paddles (I call them “buzzies”) that you hold (one in each hand). The buzzies vibrate, which helps your brain sort through the memory and find new ways of viewing it.

I’ve had many clients say they doubted the process at the beginning and then realize it’s truly freeing and life-changing.
